A messy PDF directory destroys your technical credibility
I have seen million-dollar factories with download pages that look like a Windows 95 file folder. They dump 40 outdated PDFs with names like “Brochure_Final_v3.pdf” into a grid and expect engineers to sort through it.
If your documentation is sloppy, the engineer assumes your manufacturing tolerances are sloppy.
Structure downloads by engineering intent
A true Download Hub is a meticulously categorized library. Separate your assets by the profile of the user.
For the Design Engineer: Provide native CAD files (STEP, IGES) of your standard components. Do not make them download a PDF to read dimensions.
For the QA Manager: Provide sample First Article Inspection (FAI) reports and material composition certificates.
For the Buyer: Provide the high-level corporate line cards and capability matrices.
Gate the high-value assets (like comprehensive CAD libraries) behind a simple email capture to fuel your sales pipeline, but leave the low-hanging fruit open to build rapid trust.
