Pipe & Tube Storage Storage Challenges
Pipe and tube storage presents one of the most challenging scenarios in industrial warehousing. Round cross-sections want to roll, long lengths (up to 12 meters) create handling difficulties, and heavy wall thicknesses mean extreme weight per bundle. Steel pipes, PVC conduit, copper tubing, stainless steel tubes, and structural hollow sections all require specialized storage that prevents rolling, supports full length, and enables individual bundle access without disturbing adjacent inventory.

- Rolling: Round pipes and tubes roll when placed on flat surfaces. Unsecured pipes are a serious safety hazard and inventory management nightmare.
- Length: Standard pipe lengths of 6m and 12m require long-span storage. Short racks waste space; floor stacking wastes floor area.
- Weight: Heavy-wall steel pipes can weigh 50-200 kg per meter. A 12m bundle can exceed 5 tons. Storage must handle extreme linear loads.
- Diameter Mix: Pipe inventories include dozens of diameter/wall thickness combinations. Quick identification and access to specific sizes is critical.
- Corrosion: Bare steel pipes rust quickly in humid environments. Organized rack storage with proper spacing allows air circulation and reduces corrosion.
