TELESCOPIC VS STATIC
Cantilever Rack Comparison

What Are Static Cantilever Racks?

Static (fixed) cantilever racks are the traditional design — arms are permanently fixed to upright columns and do not move. Materials are loaded and retrieved using forklifts that drive into the aisle between rack rows. This is the most common cantilever rack type, found in lumber yards, steel warehouses, and hardware stores worldwide.

What Are Telescopic Cantilever Racks?

Telescopic (roll-out) cantilever racks feature arms that extend outward from the rack structure via a chain-driven mechanism. This exposes stored materials for overhead crane access, eliminating the need for forklifts. The arms retract back into the rack footprint when not in use, enabling narrow aisle configurations.

When to Choose Each

Choose Static when: budget is very limited, materials are light (<500 kg), no overhead crane available, or low throughput (<5 retrievals/day).

Choose Telescopic when: materials are heavy (>1 ton), overhead crane is available, high throughput needed, floor space is limited, or material damage must be minimized.
